Single Gang Variable Capacitor 14-410PF.
I have had these specially manufactured in the USA and are exclusive to the 6V6 Company.
The most popular Broadcast variable capacitor for use by amateurs, experimenters, and hobbyists. Ideally suited for building crystal radios, receivers, transmitters, or QRP tuners. Sturdy construction with aluminum plates, low loss bakelite insulation and ball bearing drive.
The capacitance has been increased from the usual 365pf value, to 410pf. Since 365pf became the standard, the Medium Wave band has expanded, from 1500 to 1600 kHz in the mid nineteen forties and then to 1700 kHz in the late nineteen eighties. This small increase in capacitance easily cover the entire band without taps or external fixed capacitors.
For ease of construction:
- The two front
mounting holes are directly in line with the horizontal axis of
the shaft.
- The shaft length has been increased to 7/8 inch (21 mm) long. Allowing panels of 1/8 or 3/16 to be used, whilst still having sufficent shaft to attach a knob.
